Maintenance Custodian (Full-time, 30 hrs), Response Ability Pregnant and Parenting Program (RAPPP), Lakeview
Reports to: Program Manager

Position Summary:
Promote the mission of The Night Ministry and the Open Door Shelter to provide homeless youth and their children with a clean and safe residence by ensuring the facility and vehicles are safe, clean, and secure.

Essential Functions: Perform routine cleaning, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds keeping for the building and surrounding area. Maintain vehicles through such tasks as interior and exterior cleaning, routine maintenance of fuel and other fluid levels at required intervals or as needed, keep lights in working order and any other routine or scheduled automotive maintenance. Requisition, purchase and account for supplies as needed.

Position Requirements: Minimum GED or high school diploma with transcript required. Clean driving record, evidence of insurability. Able to lift a minimum 50 lbs. Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact and maintain good relations with diverse populations. Ability and willingness to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Excellent attendance record. Must pass all DCFS requirements, including health clearance and criminal background check. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential. Ability to work independently and as a team. EOE M/F/D/V

Case Manager (Full-Time)/Open Door Shelter/West Town
Reports to: Coordinator of Case Management

Position Summary: Provide case management, parental support, education, and advocacy to empower pregnant and parenting teens that are homeless or experiencing homelessness.  Facilitate positive interaction, intervention, and activities that strengthen the child-parent relationship.

Essential Functions:
Provide case management and counseling to adolescents. Link residents to needed services which may include, but are not limited to housing, employment, life skills, and higher education. Monitor records and client documentation to ensure compliance with government and agency standards. Participate in client recruitment. Facilitate support or education groups as needed. Assist Coordinator of Case Management with trainings and conferences. Keep accurate and timely records of client contacts and services. Serve as representative of The Night Ministry at community meetings and events. Supervise and work with volunteer staff as required. Local travel to multiple sites required.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, child development, early childhood education or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; with three (3) to five (5) years work experience.  Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other database management programs.  Must pass all DCFS requirements, including health clearance and criminal background check.  Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential.  Ability to work independently and as a team.  Must possess good verbal and written skills.  Must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.  EOE M/F/D/V.

Youth Worker (Multiple Shifts - On-Call Only) RAPP Program/Lakeview
Reports to: Youth Worker Supervisor

Position Summary:
Provide parental support, education, and advocacy to empower parents to support the educational growth and development of their children.  Facilitate positive interaction, intervention, and activities that strengthen the child-parent relationship.

Essential Functions: Responsible for the day-to-day care of the RAPP residents and their children, and to maintain a safe, secure and nurturing environment.  Present a positive role model through attitude, behavior and appearance; react quickly and exhibit good judgment in emergency or stressful situations; and take every opportunity to interact with residents.  Some of the duties include, but are not limited to: Doing initial intakes for new residents; maintaining a daily log showing progress and other significant issues for residents occurring on each shift; supervise, direct and ensure that all Night Ministry policies and procedures as well as shelter “house rules,” are applied and maintained at all times; direct and assist residents with basic life skills development; display qualities of consistency, fair play, firm but kind control, clear boundary-setting, tolerance, flexibility, and a professional demeanor.

Position Requirements:
Minimum high school graduate or GED, AA and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred with two (2) to four (4) years experience in youth services and/or residential setting rendering service to at-risk youth.  Crisis intervention training and experience, good interpersonal skills; ability to interact comfortably with diverse populations, bilingual a plus, but not required.  Must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.  EOE M/F/D/V

Youth Worker (Two (2) Part-Time Vacancies—Multiple On-call shifts available), Open Door Shelter-West Town
Reports to: Youth Worker Supervisor

Independent Living Coach (On-Call, shifts vary), Open Door Shelter West Town
Reports to: Transitional Living Program Manager

Position Summary:
Promote and maintain The Night Ministry’s mission to serve homeless youth (male and female, ages 16-21), some of whom may be pregnant or parenting, and their children.  Provide parental support, coaching, and education to empower parents to support their educational and self-sufficiency goals.. 

Essential Functions:
Responsible for the day-to-day care of Open Door Shelter-Transitional Living Program residents and their children, and for maintaining a safe and secure environment.  Coach residents in basic life skills, career planning and self-care (personal hygiene, cleaning of rooms and entire facility, cooking, laundry, child care, etc).  Identify needed groups, research, plan group interaction and facilitate groups.  Supervise and dispense medication according to doctor’s prescribed orders.  Promote clear and positive communication between shifts, with Case Managers and team members.  Must react quickly and exhibit good judgment in emergency and/or stressful situations.

Position Requirements:
Minimum high school graduate or GED, AA and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred with two (2) to four (4) years experience in youth services and/or residential setting rendering service to at-risk youth.  Crisis intervention training and experience, good interpersonal skills; ability to interact comfortably with diverse populations, bilingual a plus, but not required.  Must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.  EOE M/F/D/V
