First Slice, has given of their time and professional talent making delicious, high-quality meals for the youth who participate in our Youth Outreach programs. Like The Night Ministry, First Slice treats those they serve with dignity and kindness. 

In addition to providing meals to the homeless, First Slice offers gourmet chef meals to go and operates the First Slice Pie Café, located just a few blocks south of The Night Ministry’s administrative offices. Proceeds from both programs provide the necessary funding for their charitable operations. 

Mary Ellen Diaz, the owner and chef, trained at Le Cordon Bleu and served as Chef at the North Pond Café, Printer's Row, and at Lettuce Entertain You restaurants before following her dreams to open First Slice. Alicia Gutsell, Director of First Slice, runs the subscriber program, coordinates volunteers and outreach, manages the Café, and handles administrative responsibilities. Many volunteers join them in helping prepare and distribute the food with warm smiles, and friendly personalities.
