All individual direct service volunteers must complete these
Volunteer Core Training Sessions.
Module #1
Introduction (1.5 hours)
Session Content: an overview of The Night Ministry's programs and philosophy.
Covers volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups.
Requirements: Must be at least 21 years old.
Module #2
Skill Building (2 hours)
Session Content: Building culturally sensitive relationships, providing a Supportive
Presence Part 1, and volunteer paperwork.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 22 years of age
- Completed Module 1
- Able to volunteer for the next six months
Module #3
Program Orientation & Skill Building
(2 hours)
Session Content: Orientation to our Health Outreach Bus or Open Door Youth
Shelters or Broadway Youth Center, including program policies and procedures.
Also, Providing a Supportive Presence Part 2.
Location: with the program where you want to volunteer.
Requirements:
- Completed Module 1 and 2
Module #4
Debriefing & Skill Building (2 hours)
Session Content: Discussion of volunteer experience and customer service, along
with a review of program policies and procedures. Bus volunteers share stories,
ask for support and get to know other volunteers and Outreach & Health
Ministry staff. A light supper will be served. All bus volunteers must attend
one "debriefing supper" per year.

Requirements:
- Completed Modules 1, 2, and 3
- Completed volunteer paperwork
- Volunteered one or more times
